Personal Income received by residents in 2005 was over $13 billion. Almost 80 per cent of this income was earned income such as wages and business income, while the remainder was transfer income such as employment insurance and old age security payments. Income per person was recorded at almost $26,000 – 82 per cent of the Canadian average.
