Over $12 billion in goods and services were imported into the province in 2005. About 52 per cent of this came from the rest of Canada while the remaining 48 percent came from foreign countries such as the United States, Russia, Venezuela, and the United Kingdom.

The main provincial trading partners for the province include: Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Leading imports include refined petroleum, transportation services, wholesaling and business services, food stuffs and other consumer products sold in the retail industry.
